Repitition Number Nine

Brief News: Melissa Kienow came and recorded a vocal track on to a song that is a collaboration with another person. I do not know the musician's name. All went well. It was a quick task that was very much a learning experience for both of us. I tested out the 3 to 1 Ratio technique with this project, and it went well. We used a SM58 as a close mic and a Large Diaphragm Condenser as a distant mic. It captured her voice well and there was enough room in the recording to give it life. No frequency cancellation to speak of. Frequency cancellation has been an issue in The Kat Cellar at times. Much more to learn, but much has been improved. Also... Today, A Month Of Sundays started recording their full length album. Drum tracks were recorded along with a scratch guitar track. It was a good experience for all parties. In recording full lengths, there are many variables and issues that can arise, but today was mostly smooth sailing. The overhead technique used was the Dutch Broadcast style stereo method. This achieved a full sound and sounds very "real" when panned. There is still quite a bit to do on this recording, but the hardest part is over. More to come when necessary.
